PHP Staff engineer

Guidepoint, Lviv, Ukraine

Guidepoint Guidepoint is a progressive and innovative company with a clear division of responsibilities. I am glad that I joined it precisely during the period of active implementation and development of AI technologies. Previously, I did not fully realize how significant a technological leap the IT community as a whole had made. The widespread use of AI in development has increased the quality of code, reduced the number of routine tasks, and accelerated testing and documentation. It was here that I realized that regardless of experience, for professional growth you need to constantly develop, learn new technologies, experiment, and propose improvements. AI is the key to our well-being.

July 2023 - December 2023

Senior PHP developer

Sceel.io, Lviv, Ukraine

Sceel.io In the realm of content management systems, my prior encounter with CMS Joomla had already equipped me with a certain level of familiarity. However, diving into the intricacies of the CMS employed in this project was nothing short of awe-inspiring, showcasing a remarkable blend of complexity and an extensive array of functions. Despite its age, the system displayed resilience, sporting only a modest number of artifacts. While my tenure on this project may not have been extensive, the experience garnered was undeniably invaluable. A significant highlight involved my active participation in the challenging task of upgrading Symfony components, navigating the intricate journey from version 4 to the more recent version 6. This endeavor posed a formidable challenge, given the multitude of intermediate versions that needed to be traversed. Upgrading the core of any system is no small feat; it necessitates a meticulous adaptation of existing features to seamlessly align with the upgraded framework. The sheer magnitude of changes required for this transition was staggering, providing me with a profound learning experience and contributing to the depth of my expertise in handling intricate system upgrades.

April 2022 - June 2023

Senior PHP developer - Team lead

Sphera, Lviv, Ukraine

Sphera When I embarked on this project, our team was small and tight-knit. However, over time, it evolved into a sprawling and diverse network of skilled developers. At the project's outset, we encountered numerous gaps and challenges that I hadn't anticipated. To my pleasant surprise, our customer was willing to invest time and resources to help us address these issues. One area where I dedicated a significant amount of effort was in refining the database architecture. This investment paid off handsomely as it empowered us to leverage the built-in features of the Symfony framework, rather than reinventing the wheel. In November 2021, our customer approached me with a new challenge: expanding the team. This marked a pivotal moment in the project's growth, and I eagerly took on the task of assembling a larger and more diverse team. Throughout this journey, I fostered extensive collaboration not only within our development team but also with other crucial departments such as Business Intelligence (BI) and various other teams. This cross-functional cooperation played a vital role in the project's overall success.

October 2021 - April 2022

Senior PHP developer

Team International, Lviv, Ukraine

Team International I had the privilege of working on a captivating project within the medical technology (med tech) domain. What made this project especially rewarding was the customer's decision to grant us carte blanche when it came to enhancing the project. This unprecedented level of trust and freedom allowed me to embark on an ambitious journey of improvement. One of my key contributions to this project was the establishment of a unified Docker environment. This initiative required a significant investment of time and effort, but the results were truly remarkable. By creating this unified Docker environment, I not only streamlined the development process but also paved the way for greater collaboration and efficiency within the project. The benefits were twofold: Firstly, I gained invaluable experience and expertise in orchestrating complex Docker environments, which enhanced my skill set and enriched my professional growth. Secondly, the customer reaped the rewards of this initiative by gaining access to a unified environment that served as a foundation for the next generation of developers. This environment not only improved the current project but also ensured a smoother onboarding process for future team members and developers. It was a win-win situation, where my dedication to innovation and the customer's trust in our capabilities led to outstanding results and long-term advantages for all parties involved.

September 2020 - October 2021

Senior PHP developer

Skelia, Lviv, Ukraine

Skelia I had the opportunity to contribute to a small startup project within the real estate industry. Working in a startup environment is a departure from the more structured and predictable nature of large corporate projects, and it brought about a unique set of challenges and experiences. One of the most intriguing aspects of this startup project was the cognitive dissonance I encountered. What had proven effective in the context of larger corporate projects often proved to be invalid here. In the dynamic and fast-paced world of startups, the rules of engagement are different, and adaptability is key. It was a fascinating shift to navigate, requiring me to unlearn certain practices and embrace new ones tailored to the startup ethos. In the startup realm, time emerged as a primary adversary. Balancing the imperative need for swift development with maintaining code quality was a constant challenge. The urgency of startup life necessitates quick iterations and responsiveness to market changes, which sometimes meant compromising on certain aspects of code quality to meet deadlines. This delicate balance between speed and quality became a central theme in my work, underscoring the critical importance of making strategic decisions to ensure that the project could move forward while still delivering a robust product. It was a valuable lesson in prioritization and resource allocation that I carried forward in my professional journey.

Team Lead PHP

N-iX, Lviv, Ukraine

N-iX During my tenure at this company, I had the privilege of working alongside an exceptional team and being part of an extraordinary project that I deeply miss. This project, in particular, was a pinnacle of challenges and achievements. At its core, the project involved managing an extensive and complex database that held a vast amount of data. Every change we made within this database had a cascading effect on various related services, making precision and meticulous planning a paramount requirement for success. To tackle these challenges, we harnessed an array of cutting-edge technologies, including the utilization of queues for efficient data processing, leveraging Amazon Web Services for scalability and reliability, and employing Elastic Search as a parallel database to enhance data retrieval performance. These modern tools and technologies were instrumental in our ability to manage and analyze vast amounts of data effectively. However, what truly set this project apart was the remarkable level of communication and collaboration among team members. Our ability to maintain open and effective lines of communication was the cornerstone of our success. It fostered an environment where ideas flowed freely, problems were addressed swiftly, and solutions were developed collaboratively. This extraordinary level of communication not only enriched our work but also created a sense of camaraderie and shared purpose that I cherish and continue to miss greatly.

My role extended beyond the technical aspects as I found myself frequently engaged in conducting interviews to evaluate potential candidates, showcasing the value I added to the recruitment process.
